How to use
- Press Start and allow microphone access.
- Sing or play a sustained vowel or note 15–30 cm from the mic.
- Watch Hz, note name, octave, and cents; use Hold peak to lock the loudest pitch from recent samples.
- Raise the noise threshold if a noisy room triggers false readings.
FAQ
Is audio uploaded?
No. Autocorrelation runs entirely in your browser tab on AnalyserNode buffers.
Why does the reading jump an octave?
Low voices sometimes have a stronger second harmonic—sing slightly louder or move closer so the fundamental dominates.
Overview
Pitch Detector feeds microphone audio through a Web Audio analyser and estimates fundamental frequency via autocorrelation each animation frame. Results map to equal-tempered pitch with cent deviation from the nearest semitone.
